"Other" uses for dental floss

The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends flossing between your teeth daily along with brushing for two minutes twice daily. While floss is an essential part of proper oral hygeine, dental floss is very handy for more than just cleaning between your teeth.

1. Craft projects: Dental floss is great for stringing beads. It can come in handy for repairing necklaces or bracelets.  Floss also can be used to hang pictures or even Christmas ornaments if you run out of those decoration hangers.

2. Slicing food: What easier way to get those layers you need for your layer cake than to use floss.  Floss comes in handy when making homemade cinnamon rolls too. Other food items that are easier to cut using floss include soft cheeses and egg (who doesn't love a good deviled egg?!)

3. Pulling loose teeth: Wrap a segment of floss around that loose tooth and pull. Of course, for more fun tie the other end of the floss to the door, to a remote control car or a quadcopter to make things more interesting!

4. Sewing project: If you are suddenly caught with a button that has come off and no sewing kit, floss to the rescue.  Additionally, floss can be used as thread to sew up a hole in your favorite stuffy or a tear in an article of clothing.

5. Clothes line: If you are camping and need to dry out some clothes, dental floss is strong enough to hold your wet things while they dry. Simply tie a section of floss between two trees or poles and presto! drying rack.

6. Gardening: If you are growing tomotoes, cucumbers or any type of climbing plant that grows along a trellis, you can use floss to gently secure your plant to the trellis.

With myriad uses, dental floss is like a Swiss Army knife in your medicine cabinet.
