How often should I have a dental exam and cleaning?
Although Dr. Rotroff may recommend them more frequently, it’s best to have your teeth cleaned and examined twice a year to maintain healthy teeth and gums and to prevent dental problems.

How can I tell if I have gingivitis or periodontitis (gum disease)?
Because gum disease is often painless in early stages, an estimated 4 out of 5 people contract periodontal disease without even knowing it.

When plaque remains on the teeth and gums, acid-producing bacteria can inflame the gum and eventually cause the underlying bone to deteriorate. When fighting plaque, the best defense is a good offense and that means regular brushing, flossing and scheduling periodic dental and periodontal examinations.

What are some examples of cosmetic dentistry procedures?

The first step to an awesome smile begins with whitening. By using the least invasive bleaching techniques available, teeth that have been discolored or stain, for example by smoking, food/drink or age, can be brightened to a dazzling sheen depending on the degree of previous discoloration.

A veneer is a thin layer of restorative dental material placed over the front of a tooth (like a shell) and is often used to improve the look and feel of a tooth as well as to protect or cover a damaged tooth.

Constructed of either porcelain or resin, veneers are very thin, custom-made and are carefully matched to the color of your tooth.

Porcelain Crowns
While veneers cover the front of a tooth, a crown (also called a cap) completely covers the entire surface of a tooth and helps restore the tooth to its original size and shape. Professionally color-matched and customized, crowns strengthen and restore teeth that have been broken or fractured.
